Compare only what the official sources establish

The Demo and full game share a save path forward, but their availability and published scope differ. Historical Demo updates explain older mechanics. The release announcement describes planned version 1.0 additions. Neither source type should be stretched into exact current balance advice.

Understand the Demo retirement

The official retirement post says new players can no longer download the Demo. A player who already has it installed can continue playing indefinitely. This is not the same as saying the Demo remains generally available.

The same announcement says the old save is compatible with the full game and no special transfer is needed. It also says the save remains after the Demo is uninstalled. The official store lists Steam Cloud. For a cautious transition:

  1. Close the Demo normally.
  2. Record the build and last visible progress.
  3. Back up %APPDATA%/OrcIncremental on Windows.
  4. Confirm the Steam account and cloud state.
  5. Install the full game only after official availability is verified.
  6. Compare the loaded progress before changing files.

Use the save FAQ for the short answer and the staged Demo save transfer guide for a future platform-specific walkthrough.

Read the four announced allied units conservatively

The release announcement names four allied additions and gives broad identities:

  • Assassin uses stealth and critical attacks.
  • Troll is durable and associated with reflection.
  • Warg Raider deals with groups and can hook vulnerable targets.
  • Juggernaut brings explosive siege damage.

These descriptions help distinguish roles. They do not support exact damage comparisons, a unit ranking, a drop table, or a fixed draft order. The unit reference hub will require current labeled data before publishing those details.

Separate Chieftain structure from unknown bloodline details

Version 1.0 is announced with nine Chieftain bloodlines. A Chieftain is chosen each ascension, joins the battlefield, has a right-click signature action, and uses martyrdom when sacrificed.

The checked sources do not publish the nine bloodline names or their complete effects. No bloodline should be named from speculation, and no numerical comparison should appear until evidence supports it. The staged Chieftain guide will keep confirmed structure separate from build-specific testing.

Keep Blight and Totem claims at the published level

The planned Blight Tree has more than 250 branching nodes. Five new Totems are also announced. Those are strong scope claims and do not need invented detail.

Historical Demo v0.09 discussed Blight gain behavior in a Dark Rebirth cycle and Totem stacking, but exact formulas were not published. That historical record does not reveal the final node list or new Totem effects. Continue with the staged Blight Tree reference and Totem reference when their verified datasets exist.

Track enemies, bosses, Trials, and progression

Cryomancer, Paladin, and Griffon are the named new enemy units. Three new legendary bosses are announced, but their names are not published in the checked source. Avoid identifying a boss from promotional art alone.

The announcement also promises Trials, balance, progression, usability, and polish improvements. Those categories describe intent, not a complete patch manifest. Historical v0.09 Trial changes and v0.08 Battlefront balance belong in the patch notes ledger with their Demo labels.

Avoid common comparison errors

  • Do not call a retired Demo newly downloadable.
  • Do not claim an existing install proves full-release availability.
  • Do not describe a historical Demo threshold as a final-game threshold.
  • Do not turn four broad unit roles into an unsupported ranking.
  • Do not name the nine bloodlines, five Totems, or three bosses without a source.
  • Do not promise exact save behavior on every device without checking the active local and cloud copy.

The useful comparison is a boundary: which facts describe access and continuity, which features are announced for version 1.0, and which details remain unpublished.

Frequently asked questions

Can a new player still download the Demo?
No. The official retirement announcement says new downloads ended. Players who already installed the Demo may continue playing that installation indefinitely.
Does an existing Demo save work with the full game?
The developer says the old save is compatible and no special transfer is required. The same announcement says the save survives uninstalling the Demo, while Steam Cloud is also listed for the game.
Are the new unit and Chieftain numbers known?
The four new allied unit names and their broad roles are announced. Nine Chieftain bloodlines are confirmed, but their names, exact effects, and numerical balance were not published in the checked sources.
